You are eligible to apply if you have a 3rd level qualification of Level 7 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications - NFQ.
All IT Online programmes are open to:
- Honours degree (Level 8) graduates (minimum 2nd class honours)
- Ordinary/pass degree (Level 7) graduates with 2-3 years relevant experience.
- Level 7 diploma graduates with 2-3 years relevant experience.
Level 6 applicants or those without formal qualifications are not eligible to apply in the normal way*. Work experience, though extremely valuable, does not eliminate the Level 7 requirement for applicants. We recommend that you complete a level 7 qualification first and then apply. See level 7 (ordinary degrees) from NUIG.
Good computer skills and an interest in software and database knowledge are required prerequisites before starting an IT Online course.
*With a Level 6 award, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an option. This entails going through a formal, in-depth RPL review where the applicant must demonstrate in detail how they meet the Level 7 entry standard; either by providing examples of work-based projects completed and/or details of extensive professional training programmes successfully undertaken.
A portfolio type application is required for such an application, complete the RPL application form and submit it to the Programme Team before August 8th. See the RPL FAQs for details of what should be included in an RPL portfolio. Once submitted, your RPL application is reviewed internally and an interview is likely to follow before a decision is made.
